Getting to know the types of gold coins and the tips you should know

Bahar Azadi gold coin is one of the common gold coins in the Islamic Republic after the revolution of 1357. This coin was minted after the victory and to commemorate the Iranian revolution. Like most of the previous conventional coins, it has 18 karat (900 per thousand). The gold coin is minted by the Central Bank of Iran and its supply is provided by authorized agents or exchange offices.

Types of gold coins

Gold coins are known in terms of design into two types, old and new. The coin of the old design, which is the first design, was minted from 1358 to 1370. The salient features of the coins of the old design are decorated with the name of Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him) on one side, which is written in the decorative font of the pot inside the hexagon, and below it is written the words National Bank of Iran. On the other side, the image of the court of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) is engraved. The gold coin of the new design, which is known as the Imami coin, has been minted since 1370 until today. Imami gold coin or new design is actually the most common type of coin in market transactions. The pattern on the coin is decorated with the design of the face of Imam Khomeini (RA) along with the minted year, and the design on the other side is the Court of the 8th Imam. - Full Spring of Freedom coin
- Half Spring of Freedom coin
- Quarter of Spring of Freedom
- Two and a half Spring of Freedom
- Five Spring of Freedom

Note: The five Bahar Azadi and two half Bahar Azadi coins were minted on a case-by-case basis and are rare in the market.

The year of minting and its effect on the price!

Azadi Spring gold coin minting with the Imami design or the new design started in 1370 and continues to this day. But the question is why the coins that were minted in 2007 have the minting date of 2006 on them? Why is there a difference in price even though the gold used in both types of coins minted in each year is different? It is included on the 86th coin. Therefore, every gold coin that was minted in the following years has the mintage year 86 listed on it. It is the most popular and has a higher price bubble compared to lower denominations, and for this reason, low denomination coins are mostly used to pay the dowry.

Tips for buying and selling gold coins

Due to the increase in counterfeit coins in the market, it is better to remember some important points when buying and selling coins. First, go to the authorized agent and ask him to show the license of the union. Second, the gold coin must have a hologram and be vacuum sealed. Pay attention to the writings on the vacuum and the brand of the store so that they match. The third year of coin minting is important because, as mentioned above, coins minted under the year 86 have a cheaper price both at the time of purchase and at the time of sale.
